Istituto Fotocromo Italiano was founded in 1928 in Florence, Italy by the engineer Vincenzo Balocchi, a well-known amateur photographer and former artistic director of Fratelli Alinari, one of the world's oldest photographic firms. Today, Istituto Fotocromo Italiano is led by the same family, now in its third generation.
